Pops 19: Make Your Own Kind of Music by Mama Cass -- Made In Helmikuu

How many times you’ve heard an enthusiastic speaker boasting about how people and organisations should quit being followers and start being leaders? These statements are often accompanied by pointing out how on Twitter and other social media platforms people are followers and following. How that sort of thing is making us followers rather than leaders. But there’s a small mistake in their statements. They assume everyone must be either a follower or a leader, but how about those who just go their own way? They aren’t necessarily trying to become leaders, though they might end up as such after a while. They aren’t following either.

I have always been a bit of an outsider. I don’t quite fit in groups nor I really want to be part of them. I’m not good at following rules and instructions. Recipes in my opinion are to be adjusted to fit my taste of food. Business advice doesn’t fit my situation as is. Photoshop instructions are guidelines and I can decide to do something else. Most of all I don’t like when someone is trying to force their instructions and advice to me and tell that their way is the only way. There are times when I try to be part of things, be as others and conform. When I was young I thought it was the only way to be. It’s understandable to be swayed by the ease of following, especially when you don’t quite feel like you would like to be that sort of a leader either. This is true especially when the world and it’s enthusiastic ones are telling you should be one or another. In the question of whether you are a follower or a leader there’s no place for those who just wish to do what they do.

This was a sample of a little something I'm working on as a gift for those individuals who make their own kind of music and have signed up on my email list.
